Elmer Saathoff is key member of one of the most well known racing families in the Beatrice area. he started in the early 1960's as a car owner with his brothers. Throughout his career at the Beatrice Speedway, spanning from 1964-1979, he has served as a race director, pit steward, and president of racing associations. But perhaps his biggest contribution to Beatrice Speedway was in supporting local racers with sponsorship and "Racer Discounts" on car parts from his Salvage Yard. Elmer Saathoff is still a big racing fan today and you can find him in the grandstands at the Beatrice Speedway almost every Saturday night.
