Gene Zarybnicky began racing at the Beatrice Speedway in the early 1970's. He collected his first A Main victory in 1975 against drivers such as Tim Swanson, Ron Sardeson, and 2002 Hall of Fame Inductee Kenny Parde. He would go winless until his breakout season in 1982 in which he would win 4 A Mains and the Street Stock Championship. In 1983, he would repeat as Track Champion, becoming on of the first on record to ever earn back to back championships at the Beatrice Speedway. In 1992, in the brand new Factory Stock division he would earn 2 more A Main wins. Zarybynicky was always known for competing at a high level while working with a low budget. He would go on to pass his knowledge and ingenuity to many other Beatrice Speedway racers.
