Lloyd Beckman was a well known driver around the Midwest before ever putting four tires on the Beatrice Speedway. In 1961, he rolled out a car owned by "Speedy" Bill Smith and proceeded to record the most A Main victories of the season. In 1962, he also led the field in A Main wins. After just 2 years, his popularity grew to the extent of having his own fan club developed in Beatrice, Over the next 8 years, his popularity spread as he raced all across the Midwest. in 1971, he would return to the Beatrice Speedway and dominate the NMRA winning 7 of the 12 events. Beckman take his place in the Beatrice Speedway All Time Wins list among the best too ever compete in Beatrice. He has already been selected to the Nebraska State Hall of Fame and the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville,IA
