Paul Saenz first became interested in racing after a trip to Playland Park in Council Bluffs, IA. But it was Beatrice Speedway where he fell in love with it. After serving a stint in the Army, Saenz returned to the area and began helping several drivers in Beatrice and surrounding areas. In 1969 and 1970 after ventures at several different tracks, Saenz and his wife Rita would take on the duty of promoting the Beatrice Speedway. It wasn't until later, that Saenz most notable effort would take place. In 1974, after the Beatrice Speedway had been shut down for several years, Saenz again stepped forward to promote 1 race for the Gage County Fair. In 1975, the track would again run full season shows. Saenz would remain as promoter until 1981. If not for the effort of Paul and Rita Saenz the may not be a Beatrice Speedway today. Saenz has always considered Beatrice Speedway his favorite track.
