The variety of cars and divisions racing by Joe Wade is perhaps the largest of anyone to enter the Beatrice Speedway Hall of Fame. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's the man known as "Smokin Joe" accummulated 30+ Feature Wins at the Beatrice Speedway. What is most impressive about that feat is that many of those wins were done in his roll as a substitute driver. Joe's ability to jump into his, or anybody elses car- whether it was a Sportsman, Late Model or Sprint Car-and take it to the front of the pack was admired by fellow competitors across the state of Nebraska.
With 30+ Feature Wins and multiple Fair Night Championships against competion including fellow Hall of Famers Stu Vavra, Kenny Parde, Mike Cacak and Kenny Kovar has cemented his name among the best to ever compete at Beatrice Speedway.
